After a fallback to 3G (UMTS), the device (EM7565) does not automatically return to 4G when a good enough signal returns. After resetting the modem, the device connects again to 4G.
Is this the expected behaviour?
Is it possible to configure an automatic return to 4G after a 3G fallback?
Hii matthew.pye,
How long does your device stay in 3G when 4G signal is strong enough? Please provide the response of the commands below when your device is in 3G
AT!GSTATUS?
AT!SELRAT?
AT+CGDCONT?
AT+COPS?
AT+CSQ
Also please provide info about your device. You can send a private message to me.
ATI3
ATI8
AT!ENTERCND=“A710”
AT!IMPREF?
AT!SKU?
AT!HWID?
Thanks,
Hi Jerdung,
Thanks for your reply. I will post the response of these commands here next time I see the device stuck in fallback mode.
Thanks,
Matthew
In general, once the modem is in 3G, if you keep the data channel active, it will not go back to LTE. You have to allow the data channel to go dormant for a couple of seconds and the modem can reselect and go to LTE, if a suitable cell is available.
You don’t have to reset the modem to force LTE. You can set the modem radio off and on AT+CFUN=0/1. You can also lock the modem to LTE and disable 3G.
