What´s the specific firmware version for EM7565_1103520?

Hello,

I´m trying to confirm what firmware version is pre-loaded or used in the model EM7565_1103520.

My team is aware about that exists multiple firmware versions, for this reason, I need to confirm what specific firmware version is used.

Reading several posts in this Forum I found one which mentioned that the model EM7565_1103520 use the firmware version 1.08.04.00, due this post is one year ago, I´m not pretty sure if this info still being correct or not.

@mlw , Can you or someone else help me to confirm what´s the specific firmware version used in the model EM7565_1103520 please?

AirPrime EM75xx Approved FW Packages.

Thank you.

It depends on which carrier you use. If your preferred carrier is GENERIC, you can choose Generic-SWI9X50C_01.14.02.00-002.035_000

AT!ENTERCND=“A710”

OK
AT!IMPREF?

!IMPREF:
preferred fw version: 01.14.02.00
preferred carrier name: GENERIC
preferred config name: GENERIC_002.035_000
preferred subpri index: 000
current fw version: 01.14.02.00
current carrier name: GENERIC
current config name: GENERIC_002.035_000
current subpri index: 000

OK

Yes its 1.08 firmware, the first that was released so pretty old now, you really should move onto something newer. Its also listed as not having the CBRS bands enabled, so again another reason not to use it.

Per your comments, Is 1.08.04.00 the default firmware version loaded in the model EM7565_1103520?

When you recommend move onto something newer, Do you mean use another firmware version from the options listed for 7565 in below link?

Are all 7565 firmware options available for the model EM7565_1103520?

Firmware Options for EM75xx

Many thanks.

So two points.

  • Yes move to one of the firmware versions in the current table as per your link.
  • We build to order, the 1103520 SKU will always have the 1.08 firmware associated with it. To get a different firmware you need to use a different SKU, contact you distributor to find which ones there are available.

Many thanks for the explanation, this clarify a lot!

Regards,

@mlw,

I have a couple of questions related to PRI (carrier provisioning file), I hope you can help me.

We are using the SKU EM7565_1103520 and the current loaded modem firmware that we are using is:

01.08.04.00_GENERIC_02.012_001
Firmware: SWI9X50C_01.08.04.00 [dbb5d0 jenkins 2018/08/21 21:40.11]
With a PRI of 002.012_001

However, according the firmware versions list specified in below link, we are using 1.08.04.00 firmware but the PRI (carrier provisioning file) is clearly different, we are using 002.012_001.

Firmware & PRI versions for EM75xx

  1. Do you know what is the difference between PIR 002.012_001 and 002.000_000?

  2. PRI 002.012_001 still being valid?

  3. Do you know if this difference in the PRI (carrier provisioning file) is due any update or any different Release version (e.g. Carrier Approved—Release 11)?

  4. Exists any issue if it´s used the PRI version 002.000_000 instead of 002.012_001 (which we are using currently)?

Thank you.
Regards,

@jesus.flores

I suggest you look at the PRI file release notes.

Many thanks, I followed your suggestion.

Just double checking, speaking of the specific SKU EM7565_1103520, Does it will be always associated with 1.08 Firmware and PRI (carrier provisioning file) 002.012_000 by default from Factory?

Thank you.

@jesus.flores

The short answer is yes althoguh we are going through memory changes at the moment and I am pretty sure that this firmware will be EOL’ed, you won’t be able to downgrade the newer units to this built. I would really recommend to test and approve one of the current releases.

Many thanks for your excellent support, all information and the notification about firmware 1.08.04.00 will be EOL’ed.

Do you know who can help me to confirm when it will be the estimated EOL date of this firmware?
Or well, Where can I find this information?

I´m interested to know how much time we have before the EOL.

Thank you.
Regards,

@jesus.flores

The EOL has effectively happened, we have had to generate new firmware with new firmware drivers and we could not do this for all releases, only the current ones.

Thanks for the information.

I found below PCN # 4134846 which mention about “Introduction of alternate memory sources”, could you confirm if the EOL of this firmware was caused for what is explained in this PCN?

Sierra Wireless_PCN_4134846_05Jul2021.pdf (46.2 KB)

Thank you.
Regards,

The short answer is yes, we cannot regenerate and validate all firmware that we have ever produced as it is just too big so customers have to move to a current version.
