VoLTE voice calling availability on Sierra Wireless modules

This is my general question to the community - Is there any module from Sierra which could support VoLTE for US operators?

Hi @ramspirent
Below is list of modules which support VoLTE for US operators. Also you can refer official link from Sierra for more information and purchase

Thanks jerdung!
I see the as per the data sheet RC7611 is a “planned” device for Sprint , AT&T, TMO , VZW and Sierra Wireless. What does the planned imply ? Does this mean Sierra has tested VoLTE calls on Sprint network before releasing RC7611? Why is Sierra Wireless listed as one of the operator?
Thanks

Hi @ramspirent,
“Planned” means that modules are under verification and validation. They will be delivered in the future

Hi
Does all Modules Support Phone Calls over the Cellular Network here in Europe?
What I looking for is a Module who allow me to make Phone Calls next to an Data Stream.
Thanks

@I_AGREE_BUTTON,

Generically speaking yes all of the modules allow you to make a voice call over 2G/3G but VoLTE is a bit different and requires setting up, WP7607 allows it as will the upcoming RC series.

Matt

@mlw Does this also mean that WP7702 will be able to supports voice call over 2G Fallback?
Thanks

@iitr_saad

No WP7702 is a data only product as will all LPWA units based on QC.

Matt

Thanks @mlw. By QC, do you mean Qualcomm?

@iitr_saad, yes I mean Qualcomm.

@mlw do you have a link to where this VoLTE setup resides? We have a hunch this is causing us issues int he US currently where VoLTE is now only supported for some networks in some areas as the change their networks around but we have yet seen a good guide on everything that needs to be enabled to ensure proper VoLTE support, specifically with AT&T. Cheers

@aatw76

Not really, if a unit of ours is VoLTE certified with AT&T then the units configuration as shipped will confirm to what is required, typically the carrier will set CID 2 with an APN of IMS which the UE will then connect to with its IMS client. The only way to tell if this has completed correctly is using the at!gstatus? command as that gives you an IMS state, there also isn’t any way to modify or play with it sensibly without messing it up.

Regards

Matt

Appreciate the reply @mlw it does look like that is the cause as we were able to get IMS enabled by putting the card in a handset make a call, then putting in our device and IMS was enabled for a short period before the network must have removed again for that particular card. Cheers S

Hi,

are there any MC/EM cards ready for VoLTE for the european market, yet?

Hi @dominik.hartloff ,
Currently, the EM / MC module does not support the VoLTE feature, you can refer to the types of modules that support VoLTE at the link below:
