Speed issue with LTE modem MC7304 on APU3 - OPNSense

Hello everyone,

I have an LTE Sierra MC7403 modem installed on an PC-Engines APU3 (OPNSense),
everything works perfectly except the speed which systematically returns to 5Mbps/5Mbps after reboot.

the only solution to arrive at a transfer rate of 45Mbps/40Mbps and to reset the modem with the command AT!RESET and reload the point-to-point connection…

How is it that when restarting the APU the modem never works at the right speed??

I have just spent several hours in order to find a solution to this problem.

Could you please share with me some information as below:

  1. Is OPNsense base on Linux? What driver have you installed for OPNsense so that it can communicate with your MC7304 module?

  2. What firmware version is your MC7304 running?

  3. Has this issue happened before? Or is this the first time?

  4. How many MC7304 module do you have? Can you try on another MC7304 module to see if get the same issue?
