Pin Compatibility

Dear All,

we need to know whether the chip
GMM-G3_1103885
is pin compatible to
GMM-G3_1103899

Can someone help us?

Kind Regards,
Bernhard

@bseiz,

Yes the GMM-G3 is a single hardware, the different SKU numbers (110…) will just be indicating a different firmware configuration.

1103885 GMM-G3 GENERIC AXN5.1.1_8525 UART

The 3899 SKU is the same as above but an internal only SKU so not sure how you got it, there will be some subtle config difference but I would not recommend using it.

Matt

Dear Matt,

thanks for your reply.
The point is that we have to tell our factory whether it is possible to mount 3885 instead of 3899. Since they state the 3899 chips do not have such an availablity. They want to produce the whole set (about 50) of PCBs we order with the same chip.

Can you give us information on how to configure the 3885?
We were not able to get a datasheet for it yet. You have some documentation available?

Kind Regards,
Bernhard

Dear Matt,

since you don’t recommend the 3885. Which one do you recommend?

We want to manufacture about 200 boards with one GPS chip on each.
It is urgent for us since the production of the boards is starting soon.
Can you recommend a chip ?

Kind Regards,
Bernhard

Dear Matt,

is there any chance to get the datasheet or any configuration information?

We need to make a decision regarding our factory.

Kind Regards,
Bernhard

@bseiz,

There isn’t a ‘datasheet’ for a given configuration of a unit, I would recommend using 3885, thats it, what do you want beyond that?

Matt

Dear Matt,

the point is the availability of chips.

I have the statement from the factory that we can order
either 3899 but min. pieces1500
or 3885 with min pieces 1

see this link i got:
https://www.richardsonrfpd.com/Products/Search?searchBox=GMM-G3_11038&instockonly=false

We need only about 200 chips in total. So to buy 1500 is way too much. We want to avoid.

Therefore the quesiton whether we can use 3885 instead with additional software adaption.

So I misinterpret you? You recommend 3885 over 3899?

As software documenation this applies?

@bseiz,

I am not sure you are going to have to get Richardson to raise this directly with us as I cannot give an answer to something like this on the forum as there is no documentation around it (there is trace ability in the production systems but they require a degree of access that is not generally available).

Matt

Dear Matt,

thanks for the feedback!
Of course, I fully understand that.

We decided to go for 3885 since you recommended it.
I think we will be able to configure to our needs.
If there will arise some issus then I probably open a thread then.

Thank you very much for your efforts and patience!

Kind Regards,
Bernhard
