Further, there is no guarantee as to when the network will issue NITZ - or even that it will ever issue it at all.

Hiya, Cool. Not all telcos provide the NITZ message - and there is a lot of variation between which NITZ sub messages are provided as well. Note that the time zone (+38 in your case) is the number 15 minute increments difference between the time provided and UTC. In your case you are 9.5 hours (central Australia?) ahead of UTC. Me too. I’ll keep wracking my brain trying to remember where/how I saw the module automatically update time based on the network connection. ciao, Dave

Not a good idea, I’m afraid. Not all networks give NITZ at all, and some that do only give it after GPRS attach. So it’s no better than waiting for GPRS-Attach - but possibly worse! As I said to you before: No, that is not a failure at all - that is perfectly normal behaviour! No, that is not a general solution - that depends entirely upon the network! Not all networks give NITZ, and the ones that do give it may give it on different conditions. In summary: there is no way to request NITZ - you just have to be ready for it if and when your network sees fit to send it.

As I said to you earlier (the very first reply in this thread): The modem cannot report information that hasn’t been provided to it! Indeed - unless you can find a service provider that will specifically guarantee that this inforation will be provided…
