MC7305 Custom APN 3G / 4G switching

Hello, I am not specialist so I would like to ask you for help with configuration of custom APN on MC7305.

After firmware update of MC7305 it is not possible to connect to custom APN via generic Windows network manager, until SkyLight application is installed.
Custom APN = special APN name, username and password.
Custom APN setting works on 2G / 3G only and it is not possible to connect when MC7305 is receiving 4G LTE signal.

  • When custom APN is configured via Windows, modem keeps 4G network and APN connection is not possible.
  • When custom APN is configured via SkyLight application, modem is automaticly switched into some different mode, receiving 3G network and APN connection is possible.
    Once custom APN is set in SkyLight application then modem keeps 3G network and is working via Windows network manager even after uninstalling the SkyLight app.

When custom APN is selected, PUTTY notice ^MODE 5 (modem is switched to 3G)
When public APN (internet) is selected, PUTTY notice ^MODE 9 (modem is switched to 4G)

I need to switch the MC7305 to that “magic” mode WITHOUT using the SkyLight application, idealy by some AT command.

Could somebody help me please?

Hi,
how are you setting the custom APN in windows?
If you want to force the modem into 2G/3G you can use AT!SELRAT command.

This is exactly what I was looking for.
All works fine now. No Skylight connection manager needed anymore.
