Lenovo t480 EM7455 boot error: 1802 unauthorized network card plugged in

i dual boot and had the intention of using this card in linux ubuntu 22.04.

installed the card today and got the error code 1802. I have since been through the process of resetting the bios, removing the cmos battery, booting into windows and installing the drivers… already have the latest bios update for the Lenovo thinkpad t480.

details about the card:
EM7455
FRU PN: 01AX748
LENOVO PIN: SW10K97531

i am at a loss now which is how i came across this website. does anyone have a clue what i need to do to get the laptop to boot with the card installed?

thanks in advance
Andrew

actually what OS are you testing?
Ubuntu linux or windows?

I dual boot windows 10 or 11. But predominantly use ubuntu 22.04.

The issue at this point mainly is error 1802 which means i cant boot the laptop up at all. I have tried hot plugging and the device is recognised.

I suppose i need to flash the card some how?

Does this help?

Thanks for helping me out with this, have come across that post but im sure i read somewhere that i need a device to connect the card externally as a usb? i dont have one, but i am happy to hot-swap the card to do the flashing. i noticed its possible to do this from within windows too using some script from sierra website?

looking to get an understanding of whether its possible to do it from within the laptop or if i really must now buy the adaptor to connect the card via usb externally?

thanks again really.

i am not sure if you need to flash via usb

BTW, if you boot up with Ubuntu linux, are you able to see the module in kernel ?

also i noticed this line in the script you forwarded me to,

- Clears Band Restrictions and Places Modem in LTE only mode.

the card has a gps functionality, i presume this means the gps function will not work after reflashing?
i was hoping to use the gps functionality aswell as the LTE.

EDIT: AI says: Standalone GPS Module – If your module has a dedicated GPS receiver (like some Quectel or Sierra Wireless modules), setting LTE-only will not affect GPS because GPS operates separately from cellular connectivity.

As for the details about the kernel:

lsusb
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 1199:9079 Sierra Wireless, Inc. EM7455

sudo dmesg | grep -i “sierra|wwan|qcserial”
[ 8284.224255] cdc_mbim 1-6:1.12 wwan0: unregister ‘cdc_mbim’ usb-0000:00:14.0-6, CDC MBIM

[ 8291.616726] usb 1-6: Product: Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A

lsmod | grep -E ‘qcserial|qmi_wwan’
qcserial 24576 0
usb_wwan 24576 1 qcserial
usbserial 69632 2 qcserial,usb_wwan

I can see that it works already in linux with MBIM interface
But seems it is in MBIM only mode.

I remember some user can enable AT command port in windows by using configuration.ini:

ok im back, that was short lived, turns out the laptop boots ok repeatedly into either windows or linux (dual boot) when the laptop is restarted or suspended but when i power the laptop off completely i get the 1802 error come up again.

not sure what to do at this point as theres nothing online about the issue.

you might need to check with Lenovo:

Not sure if this helps:
