Is it possible not to activate the RS232 Hardware

Hi,

I have fastrack M1306B whit 6.55 firmware.

I have a question about RS232 hardware to the Fastrack.

Is it possible not to activate the RS232 Hardware, through AT commands?

I have the necessity to connect to the modem a device without RS232 interface. (MAX232 circuit)

If is possible not to activate the RS232 Hardware I can to connect this device to the modem, therefore the data that arrive from the device do not endure the shift level of RS232 of the modem.

I think not.

You’ll have to put a MAX232 between the Fastrack and the external device, to convert to/from RS232 levels.

Or maybe you could use an I2C UART on the Fastrack’s GPIO pins?

Or maybe Fastrack is not the right device, and you’d be better with an Integra or something?

Hi awneil,

Yes, I have to put a MAX232 between the Fastrack (pin 2, 6, 9) and the external device, to convert to/from RS232 levels.

If this command exists I could not insert MAX232.

My main problem is the circuit power of MAX232 circuit.
I could use the main modem power supply or activate an GPIO, but I think that the best solution is to use the pins #8 DTR and #12 RTS that I do not use in the communication between device and modem.

Do you have any idea?
Thanks.
