EM7455 PRI ID and firmware question

Hi,

I just start experimenting with an EM7455 module for an upcoming project and I’m trying to wrap my head around the PRI IDs (and files), what are they used for and how they relate to the firmware for different carriers.

I’ve been searching around the net but cannot find much (probably not asking the right questions). Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Chris

It is the setting of different carrier such as APN, supported band etc

What carrier are you going to use?

I’m using Verizon. I’ve updated the module’s firmware using Windows and so far everything is working (as far as I can tell). I’m just trying to get a better understanding and make sure I’m not messing something up.

Edit:
After running 9999999_9904780_SWI9X30C_02.33.03.00_00_VERIZON_002.079_001.exe to update the firmware, this is what I get for the AT!PRIID? command:

at!priid?
PRI Part Number: Unknown
Revision: Unknown
Customer: Unknown

Carrier PRI: 9999999_9904780_SWI9X30C_02.33.03.00_00_VERIZON_002.079_001
Carrier PRI: 9999999_9904609_SWI9X30C_02.38.00.00_00_GENERIC_002.082_000

OK

Should the PRI Part Number, Revision and Customer read “Unknown”?

I don’t see problem:

at!priid?
PRI Part Number: 9904514
Revision: 000.005
Customer: Generic

Carrier PRI: 9999999_9904609_SWI9X30C_02.33.03.00_00_GENERIC_002.072_001

OK
at!impref?
!IMPREF:
 preferred fw version: 02.33.03.00
 preferred carrier name: GENERIC
 preferred config name: GENERIC_002.072_001
 preferred subpri index: 000
 current fw version: 02.33.03.00
 current carrier name: GENERIC
 current config name: GENERIC_002.072_001
 current subpri index: 000

OK

What is the actual problem?
Can you attach to network?

The SIM card I use for testing is currently in another device and cannot test if it will attach to a network.

I’m not sure if it is a problem but after flashing the Verizon firmware the AT!PRIID? returned “Unknown” for all 3 values and that was not the case before.

Does the PRI Part Number and Revision need to match the currently active firmware? Also are those two values included in the name of the firmware image? It looks like they are.

where do you get this module?
Is it just a engineering sample module?

Actually it might not be a problem, probably you need to check wether it can attach network first

The module is from Amazon and I think it was intended to be used in Dell laptops. It was easy to source for testing.

I’ll test with a SIM card later this week and see if it connects.
