Does EM7455 support IPv6 over legacy PPP interface

Hello,

I’m currently trying to get EM7455 working with IPv6 on OPNsense (FreeBSD) but I have a problem during IPv6CP negotiation link (rfc5072). The negotiation failed with no response from the Configure-Request that are being sent. I try to manually configure the interface identifier with no difference, no packets coming back at all.

I would like to clarify that I’m talking only about the legacy PPP modem (AT) interface. I tried to configure IPv6 with NetworkManager and MBIM port on Linux and everything works fine, I get a global unicast address and I can use IPv6 perfectly. But no MBIM driver is currently available on FreeBSD.

I did a lot of tests including modifying and trying different configurations on OPNsense or FreeBSD (mpd5) or Linux (pppd) but none of them work.

I come to wonder if EM7455 supporting IPv6 or not through PPP legacy datalink?

I’m running latest generic firmware SWI9X30C_02.39.00.00.

Ppp is not officially supported in em7455.
So there is no validation and verification done on ppp via AT port, it could have any problem

Hi jyijyi,

Well I first thought about software issue because IPv4 is working well.

Any model officialy support IPv6 through PPP ?

Is that you only consider EM module (i.e. M.2 adaptor)?
PPP is very old technology, not much people will use PPP on EM module right now…

Yes I know but for now I do with what I got. The list of officially supported devices is not that big (i.e. Making sure you're not a bot!). I know that some EM7XXX devices would be added in the future.
Any chance with the EM75XX series?

No guarantee as there is no verification on ppp
