Have you considered to use an ISD17xx ChipCorder IC as an option for your application? Maybe it´s an option, depends on your needs for your project. Right now i´m studying in depth the PCM stuff for a BlueTooth application, if i find something useful for you i´ll post it here. Good luck!

Could you use the built in Microphone and Speaker interfaces on the Q2686 and use the adl API to do the recording and playback?
That way you could record/playback over a GSM call as well without changing too much code.
