We are considering wp7607 for our future design. Is it possible to re-partition the internal flash, specifically to increase rootfs (“system”) partition size at the expense of userapp partition? If yes, what are the limits? Is there a need to rebuild linux kernel to comply with the new positions and sizes of partitions? Is the size of rootfs practically limited by the size of fota partition?
How much system partition space do you need?
Which firmware are you going to use? R17.1?
I remember some of the new SKU of WP7607 (FW R17.1) already increases the system partition size.

Using the release 17.1 would be the most likely choice.
I’m trying to understand how the re-partitioning can be done and what are the limitations. Let’s say there is a need to increase rootfs partition size by 10 MiB while decreasing the userapp partition size. Can it be done? Can fota partition be increased appropriately?
for you request to just increase 10MB size, you need to request distributor to get a tool for you to enable AT!PARTITION so that you can configure whatever partition size you want.
But for the some new SKU of WP7607 (FW R17.1), it already increases the system partition size to 60MB, so it should be quite suitable for you.
That’s interesting. I’ll assume fota partition is also increased. Is it possible to remove a partition reserved for additional modem image, like slot_2?
