Modules 3G Sierraless MC7710 doesn't work

Hello everybody,

Networking manager could not recognize Sierraless MC7710 wireless card although I can see it with an ifconfig -a. I am on Ubuntu 13.10.

I tried different commands

uname -r

3.11.0-17-generic

Connection to the device via minicom on ttyUSB2 and ttyUSB3 fails and even make the terminal unresponsive (must close the tab).
So I am not able to switch from DirectIp to QMI.

I also tried to install driver from mycusthelp (mycusthelp.net/SIERRAWIRELESS/_c … spx?aid=44) but it doesn’t compiled.

Any idea ?

Hi,
Same problem here on Debian kernel 3.4.0
Please anyone could help ?

Nobody ?

Hi,

Was there any activity before module entered into this state?

Hi Rex_alex !
No the module has never shown activity. We have two MC7710 on two pc with Debian kernel 3.4.0, both have the same problem. Minicom and Cutecom can open ttyUSB3, but they fail to send AT commands. They even stay unresponsive, frozen, and we have to kill the process.

Hi,

For me it works now, I updated the firmware with the windows tools.

Indeed, I did the same, and now it works perfectly.

Thanks for your help !

Hiya All.

One thing to be aware of with minicom is that by default it sends a number of modem initialisation commands when a device is opened or closed. I’ve had issues with this confusing the modem in the past, and now I make sure I edit the connection profile to remove all these command strings.

ciao, Dave
