Has anyone here ever tried to connect the fastrack supreme to a PIC Microcontoller via the rs232 link? Can it be directly connected via the serial cable? thanx in advance
Simply putting “PIC” into the search box would immediately answer that question!
Why would it not be possible?
Remember, the PIC neither knows nor cares what is connected to its serial port; all that it knows it that it sends bytes to the port, and receives bytes from the port - it has absolutely no idea where the bytes go to, or where they come from, or what they mean.
Similarly, the Fastrack neither knows nor cares what is connected to its serial port; all that it knows it that it sends bytes to the port, and receives bytes from the port. How the Fastrack reacts to these bytes is described in the AT Commands manual.
aw thanks…btw i have to use a crossover serial cable right?
The pinout ofthe RS232 connector on the Fastrack is defined in the User Manual;
There is no reason at all to suppose that all PIC-based equipment in the world has its RS232 connector wired identically - so you are just going to have to check how your particular PIC’s connector is wired, and then choose an appropriate cable.
