BC118 Minimum operating voltage

Hey All,

We’re using BLE 4.0 BC118. When we started development we saved a datasheet that lists the supply voltage as “3.3V to 4.7 V DC (Supports Li Ion battery voltage range)”. The datasheet currently on the Sierra website is for the BLE 4.01 version of the BC118 and lists the supply voltage as “1.8V to 3.6V DC (Supports Lithium battery voltage
range)”.

Is the supply voltage actually different between these two versions? What is the actual minimum for the 4.0 version of the chip? We’re using it on regulated 3.3V so I want to make sure there’s some margin for regulator tolerance.

Hello, all In my application, I plan to use the BC127 and my main power supply is 3.0V (with no battery connection) I’ve noticed that the minimum working voltage of the BC127 IS 3.1V because of VCHG specification: There is an example of a fixed voltage configuration, similar to my application: [1] Now, I don’t understand one thing, If I don’t use the battery charger function, why still connect the related charging pins (VCHG, VBAT_SENSE) to the power supply even though there are disabled? …

I have looked through the documentation (both Bluecreations and Sierra) and they both indicate a supply voltage of 1.8V to 3.6V. The 4.0 and 4.1 is just the BLE version it is compliant with nothing to do with a chip version number, the hardware has always remained the same.
