just got a sierra wireless modem plugged it in a linux machine 7 ttyACM ports show up but the lsusb output does not show sierra wireless it shows something like this

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1519:0020

i’m not sure if this is a problem or not i’ve seen others with a correct outpurt that looks like this.

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1199:68aa Sierra Wireless, Inc.

Typically i manage to connect to 3G AP using wvdial but once i terminate the connection i always have to physically reset the modem before i can do anything again; it stops responding to At commands. anyone facing this issue need some input.

PS: i tried to reset the modem using AT+commands but i have to do that on another port which is also not working sometimes.

Is it some driver issue?? did you check with other HL modules?

Hi,

This is not a problem, it is how the unit works, and is the correct VID/PID for the unit to declare to the system. it is not a Sierra specific VID/PID (such as as with one of the MC ones you have shown) and is designed to work with the generic drivers on the Linux system with which this VID/PID is already associated.
