SL5010 on Linux

Hi,

I’m currently evaluating the SL501x and SL809x modems for use in our product. Our platform is a non-x86 linux environment (kernel 2.6.34) . I’ve managed to get the SL8092 up and recognised however when I try the same with a SL5010 it isn’t recognised.

The following is the kernel output when I connect the SL5010:

usb 1-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=1199, idProduct=0300
usb 1-1.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=4
usb 1-1.1: Product: Sierra Wireless Device
usb 1-1.1: Manufacturer: Sierra Wireless, Incorporated
usb 1-1.1: SerialNumber: 4Vx«Íïÿÿÿÿ

I can’t see any reference the the Product ID 300 with relation to Sierra Wireless anywhere in the Linux driver code. The corrupt serial number makes me wonder if I’ve got a broken module.

Does any one have the correct Vendor/Product pair for the SL5010?

Thanks in advance!

Gordon.

Hi Gordon,

I agree, I made a patch myself for time being.
Can you try?

Hi lotam,

That patch worked. I got 4 serial ports and was able to talk to the modem on the first one.

Thanks for your help!

Gordon.
