wip_ATCmdSubscribe and the COM port

Real Noddy question here, just not obvious to me from the manual…

After issuing wip_ATCmdSubscribe (or any other notification subscriptions) does it block notification from appearing on the COM port, i.e. does it divert the notifications or duplicate them (both to application and COM port)?
