Hi,
I’m having issues installing EM7565 Gobi drivers on an Ubuntu x64 platform, specifically missing /dev/qcqmi#. Following the Application Developer’s Guide so I can use the lite API, I have:

- Blacklisted qmi\_wwan and qcserial
- Removed modemmanager (network manager is still running)
- Built and installed GobiSerial and GobiNet (with RAW\_IP=1) using SierraLinuxQMIdriversS2.42N2.64

Looking at other working dmesg examples in these forums, it appears that GobiNet is not working correctly as I don’t see such lines as:
GobiNet 1-2:1.8 enp0s21f0u2i8: renamed from eth0
[17.983052] creating qcqmi0

There are also references to MBIM mode in demsg - could the modem be in the wrong mode, i.e. not QMI? How would I change that?

I’m also suspicious that I have the wrong driver as:

1. The USB VID/PID is not listed as supported in QMI mode in the dev guide - “1199:9091 Sierra Wireless, Inc.”
2. The dev guide mentions to contact your FAE(?) to obtain QMI drivers. Are these not public, i.e. not from the SW source?

Here are my logs:

@tim.meyer

Re the driver question, no the drivers on the source are fine, you don’t need to get anything special from anyone.

It might be your USB configuration, if you send the below AT commands to the unit it will give us some more information.

```
ati
at!pcinfo?
at!gstatus?
at!entercnd="A710"
at!usbcomp?
```

Also from a termnal on your system can you send the following

```
modinfo GobiSerial
modinfo GobiNet
```

Regards

Matt

@tim.meyer

So your problem is the mode the unit is in as can be seen from the response to the at!usbcomp? command.

`Interface bitmask: 0000100D (diag,nmea,modem,mbim)`

You probably have a cdc-wdm device buried in your ls /dev response.

You need to send the below to set it to RMNet

```
at!entercnd="A710"
at!usbcomp=1,1,10D
```

Regards

Matt

@mlw

That worked! Thanks very much, I really appreciate it.

As a follow on question, is there any documentation that would have me helped me solve this? I feel that without your help, I would still be scratching my head just using the Application developers guide.

@tim.meyer

I guess there probably was not a document that would have specifically directed you to this but then the unit was not in the normal configuration so has gotten changed at some point.

All it would really have taken was seeing the interfaces were missing, what were enumerating, looking at the syslog which should then have enabled you to focus on the enumeration config which was controlled using the usbcomp command so I am sure you would have got there in the end.

Matt
