Hi, I have purchased a pre-owned Thinkpad T460. Since it didn’t come with the WWAN (cellular0) module, I purchased a “Sierra Airprime EM7455” module separately. But when I installed the module, I could not turn on the laptop. It stuck on the BIOS, and an Error code came up: " Unauthorized network card is plugged in (Error Code 1199/9071)." Can you help me solve this issue?

> Lenovo uses whitelisting in the BIOS system, your issue is the VEN-ID with the card, not the IMEI… I changed one from Dell’s code to the generic one a long time ago, but it is risky (can brick the card). I wouldn’t know what to enter for what Lenovo wants. Is the EM7355 an option for Lenovo for that laptop, if it works in your X1… Alright… I looked it up… Your title has 7455, your post has 7355… The 7355 will not work in the Lenovo P50. A Lenovo 7455, likely. 00JT542, will, this is the …

> I assume you’re getting that message printed by the BIOS itself, so there is no point in attempting to install any Windows drivers from anywhere, as the system is not even booting. The problem seems to be that the EM7355 isn’t listed in the Lenovo P50 whitelist of WWAN modules. See, manufacturers don’t want you to install any kind of WWAN module in the laptops, they have a device whitelist that says which WWAN modules you can install, and the whitelist is hardcoded in the BIOS so you cannot c…
