Great! So you did connect coffee machines using Open AT devices before we did for Nespresso!

On a development point of view, does it look like Nespresso project? What are the differences?

It was about 7 years ago!
It was one of the first of the “packaged” self-service bean-to-cup coffee units that are now common in service stations, etc.

Note that the project was in no way connected with Costa Coffe, but this was the kind of thing:

It started with the Fastrack M1306B; later moving to Fastrack Supreme.

The Server-side was entirely bespoke - there was no AirVantage (or IDS) in those days!

The machines were installed in a major cinema chain across the country.

Started working on IoT, wanted to know some insight to this coffee machine IoT.
How is the data interfaced to the machine? can any existing coffee machine be changed to IoT. what is that we need to change it to IoT?

That depends entirely on the machine!

> [@](#):

> can any existing coffee machine be changed to IoT

That depends on the machine - and how much time/effort/money you’re prepared to put into it…

> [@](#):

Again - it depends.

Like “The Internet”, IoT is not a single, simple thing - it requires the coming-together of many and diverse different skills, technologies, applications, etc.

Nespresso is the brand name of Nestlé Nespresso S.A., an operating unit of the Nestlé Group, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Nespresso machines brew espresso and coffee from coffee capsules, or pods in bar machines, a type of pre-apportioned single-use container of ground coffee beans, sometimes with added flavorings. Nespresso is a premium price coffee, and by 2011 had annual sales in excess of 3 billion Swiss francs.
