I just received the kit and going through the documentation it appears I need 2 serial connections to start developing. UART1 to create a PPP to the WAN, and UART2 to connect to develop on. Is this the only way to develop on it? Do I need to wire a connector to the expansion board with rs232 level conversions? Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum.
thanks,
Bill

You really should have discussed this with your supplier before parting with your hard-earned cash!

What do you mean by “the WAN” here?

If you mean the GPRS netwok - then you don’t need UART1 to do that!

It can ceratinly make things a lot easier, but it is by no means essential!

You can use UART1 for both your application and debugging - see: [viewtopic.php?f=53&t=2509&p=11123&hilit=external+com#p11123](http://www.wavecom.com/modules/movie/scenes/forums/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=2509&p=11123&hilit=external+com#p11123)

The IESM provides RS232 levels - see its User Guide.

Thanks for the feedback. Where I am getting lost is in the lua-tutorial.pdf, it states the OpenAT application is running on UART2. Is it possible to connect to that application using UART1? So far the username and password will not allow me a connection on UART1, although I can connect to the network without username or password.

thanks,
Bill
